About Miguel Olivares And Sons, Inc.

Our sweet potatoes begin their journey in warm, carefully tended hotbeds, where they sprout and grow into lush, vibrant vines. Once these vines reach their peak, we carefully trim them, using the strongest and healthiest cuttings to transplant into our fields. This time-honored process ensures that each sweet potato we grow is nurtured from the very start, resulting in a harvest rich in flavor, quality, and tradition.

A lush field of sweet potatoes spreads across the sandy land, its green vines swaying under the sun. Beneath, golden roots rest in the warm soil, fully matured and ready for harvest—a perfect blend of nature’s care and patience

February 2025 - Hotbeds in the making

Our tractors place beds of sweet potatoes on the soil, covering them with dirt to sprout. To ensure ideal growth, we build greenhouses over them, creating warm hotbeds. In about 60 days, strong vines develop. Once ready, we cut them and carefully select the best vines for transplanting into the fields

Each row is covered to create a heated, enclosed bed, ensuring even sprouting and protection from cold weather 

March 2025 - In this picture, the rows of hot beds lay quietly, their soil warmed beneath protective covers, patiently waiting for the sweet potato sprouts to emerge. Even in the lingering chill of late winter, the heat trapped within encourages life to stir just beneath the surface 

March 2025 - Soon, tiny green shoots will push through, marking the beginning of a season filled with growth and abundance. The careful preparation of these beds ensures strong, healthy plants that will eventually spread their vines and yield a bountiful harvest. It's a quiet but powerful reminder of nature's resilience and the farmer's dedication 

March 25, 2025- The image captures early spring as warmth awakens the earth. A sweet potato sprout emerges from rich soil, its green leaves reaching for sunlight. Damp soil nourishes its growth, with more sprouts peeking through. In weeks, vines will strengthen, ready for trimming and transplanting. The scene brims with renewal and promise of a bountiful harvest.

Haber trabajado con nosotros en una temporada anterior no garantiza un puesto este año. El empleo dependerá de las necesidades operativas y de los puestos disponibles.

Seasonal Employment Notice – Planting Season

We are not accepting open job applications at this time.

Returning Employees (2024 or 2025 season)

Employees who worked with us during the 2024 or 2025 season may request an application during the following dates and times:


  • March 24 – March 31
     
  • 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
     
  • Call the office or come in person
     

Please note:
Working with us in a previous season does not guarantee a position this year. Employment will depend on operational needs and available openings.


New Applicants (have not worked with us before)

Due to limited hiring needs this planting season, only a small number of applications will be available for new candidates.


  • In-person only
     
  • April 14 & April 15
     
  • 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
     
  • A limited number of applications will be distributed each day
     

Important

We expect very few new hires this planting season.
We will not know how many positions (if any) are available until we confirm how many returning employees will be coming back. Only after that process is complete will we determine whether additional openings exist.
